The Latino
Business Community

Yolo Vox launches the annual statewide Latino Business Expo (LBE) Hosted by Yolo Vox to support, promote and strengthen the connection between Latino businesses to each other and to the broader American business community. We celebrate the fact that Latino businesses have become one of the largest economic forces in the U.S contributing more than $750 billion, according to the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In Indiana alone, Latino businesses have increased by over 500% in the last two decades. For this reason, the Indiana Latino Business Expo Hosted by Yolo Vox exists to provide business education and networking opportunities with professionalism and high standards at the forefront of what we do.

LBE is for everyone. While we create a sense of belonging and support for Spanish-speaking business owners, we also invite non-Hispanic companies to have a space at the expo. This all-bilingual event provides a unique opportunity to establish new professional connections across all sectors.

People at Latino Business Expo

History

The Latino Business Expo (LBE) Hosted by Yolo Vox is a private regional expo that exists to provide assistance, connection opportunities and workshops to Latino businesses and to the broader business community. The primary goals include providing increased visibility for their services and products, providing networking opportunities with other professionals, city leaders, and the public, bridging linguistic and cultural barriers.

The Center for Healing and Hope was instrumental in the launch of the Latino Business Expo through Yolo Lopez DeMarco. Yolo’s organic relationships with the Hispanic business community led to her passion to bring businesses together to support the work of the Center for Healing and Hope. For that reason, she launched the first expo in 2018 at Everence Financial in Goshen, Indiana. Representatives from 22 Latino businesses from Elkhart and Goshen participated as exhibitors and approximately 60-90 people from the public attended. Isaac Torres, a well-respected and successful entrepreneur, was invited by the organizers to be the keynote speaker for Latino business owners. Special guests included representatives from the Mexican Consulate of Chicago, President of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, and Goshen Mayor, Jeremy Stutsman.

Yolo continued to see a need for Latino owned businesses to network so she continued the Latino Business Expo in 2019. This second event was hosted by Ivy Tech Community College Community Center in Elkhart. Participation doubled with 50 total booth exhibitors: 37 Latino-owned businesses and 13 additional businesses). There were 25 booth exhibitors from Goshen, IN; 20 from Elkhart, IN; 3 from South Bend, IN; 1 each from Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, IN. General attendance also increased significantly to more than 150 individuals. People from many backgrounds came to network with the exhibitors and one another. The 2019 expo included a keynotes session delivered by Jeremy Stutsman, Mayor of Goshen, and the Presidents of both the Elkhart and Goshen Chambers of Commerce.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Yolo’s departure from Center for Healing and Hope, the expo was postponed until 2022. In the meantime, Yolo Lopez DeMarco, owner of Yolo Vox, continued to be involved in Chamber and entrepreneurship activities to ensure the voice of Latino businesses continued to be heard. Yolo connected with key entrepreneur organizations to help share updates, news, and tips for Latino business owners through this difficult time. During this time, she was being asked by her own community to continue helping them with a similar event that would keep them engaged with each other. It was during this time that Yolo decided to continue her work with a Latino Business Expo event of her own called Latino Business Expo hosted by Yolo Vox.

With expos for Hispanic businesses growing throughout the United States, Yolo felt it was important for our Hispanic communities to continue to have access to resources that the Latino Business Expo creates. So, after two years of becoming a company, Yolo Vox launched it’s own version of the Latino Business Expo, which resulted in 75 exhibitors and over 700 public attendees connecting and learning from another at the Northern Indiana Event Center. Today, the Latino Business Expo, hosted by Yolo Vox also donates, a percentage of the proceeds to a different nonprofit organization every year.
